Our philosophy

We believe in: the power of mom.

Too often, Moms are made to feel that they can’t be both a successful professional and an involved mom. We believe just the opposite. We embrace the crazy schedule of juggling mommyhood and meetings. We know it takes a little extra work for a mom to do both well, but we also know that because of that decision, she’s exceptionally dedicated, and she’s incentivized to use her time efficiently. We celebrate moms – as our employees, as our clients, and as our audience.  And we hope to celebrate you as a mom too!

We believe in: performance not presence.

We attract and retain the best talent to work alongside us because we’ve eliminated the traditional office setting. Our office is 100% virtual; allowing us to collaborate from anywhere, at any time. We value the quality of our team’s work and encourage them to work in an environment that works best for fostering the best creative and focused thinking for each individual. And we’re mom bun rock stars with a drool stain on our shoulder. Yeah, life is a beautiful busy thing.

We believe in: breaking through barriers.

Nothing great was ever achieved by playing it safe. We challenge ourselves to think big, always, just as we do for our clients. Without risk, there is no reward.

We believe in: paying it forward.

We rise by lifting others. Which is why we’re committed to to donating 10% of all private coaching proceeds to The Dwelling Place Shelter, an organization that is transforming women’s lives who are victims of domestic violence, by equipping and empowering them with supportive services and a safe place to call home.

You’re in good company

Hello, there!

I’m Tara, a marketing expert committed to coaching women to achieve their own success and building brands that support and focus on the mom market. On some days you might catch me saying I have three boys – my husband, my son and my dog. Our life and our home is filled with creativity and play that inspires my business on a daily basis, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ve been running businesses and coaching people to achieve their dreams ever since I was a little girl. Some people are drawn to owning a business because of the money. While that’s an important part of running a successful business, for me, it’s always been about the personal satisfaction of contributing to others’ success and feeling genuinely happy in celebrating their accomplishments.

Put another way – I care. A lot.

My love language is gifts, so what better way to live that out than to give people the gift of success? Before I took on the role as Director of Talent Management for Minnesota’s largest advertising agency, I was running the Experiential & Events department there.

When I started that department there were 5 of us. I set out and accomplished building a team that other departments envied.

We were experts in our field, we worked hard, we treated each other with respect because we genuinely liked and cared about each other, and most importantly, we had fun! In just a few years I had grown the department to 32 people across two countries! Hiring new talent that I trained and empowered to strive for excellence. Wow, what an incredibly fun and rewarding ride that was!

Over those years I took on several mentees, one of which is now leading that department and making a six-figure salary.

Talk about a proud mama moment!

There is nothing I love more than getting to know people and helping them to achieve their dreams. Fun fact: I believe in it so much that I tattooed “Dream” on my back (okay, probably not one of my best teenage decisions, but hey, when I commit to something, I’m all in)!

I’ve spent the last 15 years bringing brands to life, which is why I know I can do the same for you!

Let me share some of my favorite highlights with you:

  • Toured the world with Disney, bringing magical experiences to children and adults alike.
  • Built a life-size gingerbread house that served cookies and hot cocoa to surprise & delight people during the holiday season.
  • Produced a tour that traveled to elementary schools across the country surprising them with $25,000 grants, a larger than life gift box filled with backpacks and school supplies, and a special visit from Disney star Bridgit Mendler (cue ugly cry by everyone involved now)!
  • Pitched, sold and produced the longest running national campaign for a major retailer and grew it from 14 to 140 events with a 1,110% budget increase – and it’s still going long after I left
  • Created and successfully implemented multi-million dollar marketing campaigns on an international level
  • Been recognized as an expert in my field and presented to my marketing peers at the Experiential Marketing Summit
  • Been recognized by the Advertising Federation as a winner of 32 Under 32
  • Developed an international executive recruiting program

All of this has prepared me for what actually matters to me most –  seeing other people enjoy experiences that I’ve created; and celebrating the success of others I’ve had the pleasure of coaching.

I spent 15 years of my life climbing the corporate ladder, only to discover that I didn’t like the view from the top. I had it all – the six-figure income, the fancy title and the flashy work.

But you know what was missing? My freedom and my values. I was working round the clock for people who viewed my family as a distraction from my job rather than a priority that drives me to be a better me.

You see, it’s ALL important, and I wouldn’t be myself if I wasn’t both a mom and a professional. So I set out to change that.

To redefine what work looks like for women. To spread the message and share the success of not just doing both, but doing both well.

I’m here to tell you that it is possible!

When you start believing in yourself and staying true to your priorities, you really can live the life you’ve dreamed of.  I’m here to help you unapologetically excel in all that you do, because I believe in your dreams.

I may have a grown-up job, but I still think of myself as a professional “kid at heart”. We work hard, but it has to be fun along the way. The work we do here at Rise & Shine matters. I care deeply about the work and the clients we have the opportunity to serve, and I can’t wait to help you grow!

Let’s dream big together!
